Most people who go out searching for treasure with a metal detector do so because it is an enjoyable hobby. The idea of becoming rich suddenly through finding a treasure trove of gold might cross your mind. If you have those thoughts, they are usually just idle daydreams. The three year old boy who struck gold in the UK probably never even dreamed about being a millionaire. Enough cash to buy a tricycle was probably his idea of wealth. In May 2009, his life changed. He can now afford to buy a tricycle for every day of the year.

Little James Hyatt was walking with his father and grandfather in Hockley, Essex, when he asked to be allowed to try out his grandfather's metal detector. Within minutes of prospecting with a metal detector for the first time, James struck gold.

The lucky tot found a medieval gold pendant estimated to be worth over 2.5 million English pounds. The proceeds of this find will be split between the finder and the owner of the land where the locket was buried.
